SAA BOOSTS INTERNATIONAL FREQUENCIES
Date published 02.07.2012
FOLLOWING the upcoming launch of services to Abidjan and Brazzaville, South African Airways is to focus on growing key international destinations, including Perth, Mumbai and Accra.
General Manager Commercial, Theunis Potgieter, said the adjusted network would allow the airline to better serve international markets that have shown strong growth in demand. This follows the backlash over the carrier’s decision to suspend direct services between Cape Town and London due to low yields and the airline’s explanation that it can use the aircraft more profitably on other routes.
While Abidjan and Brazzaville will be served twice each week from August 17 and September 13 respectively, from August 19, SAA will operate an additional flight to Accra, bringing the total number of flights on the route to six a week.
From August 16, the airline will add an additional flight to Perth, bringing the number from six to seven weekly.
Although Mumbai gained an additional flight on June 16, SAA has confirmed that, due to strong demand, it will add an additional flight, operating on Tuesdays and returning on Wednesdays, from August 21.
